PROJECTS FOR THE YEAR 2019

For the effectiveness of these projects, we partnered with Women Enterprise Fund, Merino Real Estate, and other partners.

1. SALE OF LAND TO MEMBERS

Kuza Sacco had initially purchased a big chunk of land 28 acres at Mai-Mahiu where 18acres were subdivided into small portions raging from 50×100, and 10 acres sold in full. We have successfully sold 140 pieces remaining only 4 pieces.

Kuza Sacco society limited also purchased another piece of land in Nyandarua County, Githioro area Githabai village.  This land is availed to our Kuza Sacco members. This land is subdivided into small portions raging from 50×100 in terms of size.  Kuza Sacco members benefit from this land through farming, settlement, building rental houses and speculation.

A member can own a plot (s) through the following methods

• SPOT CASH: where a client pays the full amount.
• INSTALLMENT: client pays 50% of the price and the balance is cleared in 3 installments.
• KUZA SACCO PLOT LOAN: The client pays 50% of the price and the balance is paid through the Kuza Sacco plot loan.

FEATURES OF A PLOT LOAN

• Register as a member of Kuza Sacco.
• The buyer must have paid 50% of the value of the plot.
• The product is open to the public.
• Cheap interest rates.
• One does not require a collateral to own a plot.
• The buyer gets a discount of Ksh.5000
• The plot (s) must be sourced from Kuza Sacco

2. JOINT VENTURE PROJECT

This is a project which is more of a partnership between Kuza Sacco, Merino real estate and the client. A client must own the land, Kuza Sacco finances in terms of a loan to a client while Merino real estate does the construction of rentals premises and facilitates rental collection. Thereafter rent collection is shared between Kuza Sacco and the client depending on the type of houses built and the amount used for construction.

This is one of our examples where Kuza Sacco partnered to transform rental houses initially made of iron sheets to permanent. The pictures below show the houses before, during and after transformation.

3. ISSUING OF LOANS

Kuza Sacco is determined in providing Low-interest loans to the Sacco members, women and women groups. The loan interest rates are as low as 8% per annum. So far, many of our members have benefited from these loans, which enable in development of their homes, start-up capital for the businesses, boosting their businesses in the SME sector among other benefits.
